The Ultimate in Custom Wine Tasting Experience; Omaha’s Brix

When Brix opened up; a niche was taken care of that desperately needed filling: a place that was an awesome retail space to purchase, learn about, and sample wine. Having the largest selection of Beer in between Denver and Chicago, this is one place that the connoisseur can come and find exactly what they are looking for. Many hard core aficionados are happy to learn that Brix specializes in Belgian and American Craft Beers. As far as rum, scotch, bourbon, and the rest, Brix has over 200 brands, and is especially good at locating premium liqueurs. They also regularly host events that also bring some of the most sought after distillers to Omaha for learning opportunities. Since they have opened, many Omaha residents have found the perfect spirit or bottle of wine to complement what they are craving for the moment.

Brix also has one of Omaha’s largest martini and craft cocktail menus, and the bistro’s culinary team is serving up great eats like Margherita flatbread, Plank salmon, Pan Seared Chicken, and Grilled Cheese with smoked Gouda, havarti, tomato, and basil. The house made kettle chips or fries are a perfect pair for main entrees like the Brix burger, the Grilled Chicken Club, and the Italian Melt. The Wedge Salad is one of my cohort’s favorites: it has iceberg lettuce, gorgonzola cheese, bacon, tomatoes, and a perfect Blue Cheese dressing. The Beet salad had candied almonds, orange, shaved fennel, goat cheese, and a fine orange vinaigrette, also a great choice paired with a Riesling or any other spectacular wine from Brix’s supply.

Monday through Saturday from 3 to 6, Brix has their “Happiest Hour”, with 4 dollar well drinks and 6 dollar cocktails for the thirsty Omaha natives in tow. New Amsterdam Gin, Bacardi Superior Rum, and cocktails like the Moscow Mule, Old Fashioned, Manhattan, and the trusty Tom Collins can be acquired during the late afternoon/early evening hours. After dinner is when your taste buds absolutely secure the finest things of the evening, and Brix never falls short in this department. Rum Chata Bread Pudding, Flourless Chocolate Cake, and Pumpkin Spice Cake are among the savvy and sweet offerings here. You can close the deal or end the night with wonderful options like a Coconut Cream Pie Martini, Coffee and Amarula, or Grand Marnier. One of the best things to hit Omaha in a while, this is a prime spot to entertain, sample, and mix the good life of Nebraska with the good taste of incredibly fine wines.
