
Family Friendly Fall Activities Around Omaha in 2023
Omaha and its surrounding areas are full of countless fun things to do especially during the fall season. If you have just moved to Omaha or are wanting to check the Omaha area out for a potential move here it is always good to know what is going on in the area. Here are some of the family-friendly fall activities happening in the Omaha area in fall 2023.
Ghouls and Glow at the Henry Doorley Zoo and Aquarium
A popular event every spooky season is the 400 giant lanterns custom-made for the zoo that light the pathway along the Bay Family's Children's Adventure Trails. Spectate dancing skeletons, ghosts, sugar skulls, a mummy band, witches, and jack-o'-lanterns galore. This year there will be some new attractions as well including extra ticketed events. You can enjoy the spooky season festivities the last three weekends of October.
Halloween Fun at Durham Museum
Learn about the haunted history of the Union Station in Omaha. Enjoy fun trick-or-treating through the historic exhibits and dancing zombies as well as a spooky story time and a haunted train. There's a fun-themed event for everyone at the museum throughout October. Come to one or all of the separate fun events. On October 24 at 5 PM is the great Halloween hunt encouraging guests to come in their costumes and trick-or-treat as well as enjoy you and UNO Moving Company's dancing zombies at 6:45.
On the 25th at 10:30 AM and 11:30 AM bring the little ones in for spooky tales for tots. They can enjoy a fun Halloween story and do a themed craft on their own.
And rounding out the activities at the museum on October 28 and 29th is Hallo-weekend. Get a goodie bag and tour of the haunted train play some games and watch out for those dancing zombies.
Haunted Tree Rush
If you like outdoor climbing adventures head over to Fontenelle Forest in Bellevue and experience the spooky-themed adventure courses well a DJ plays live music. There will be over 100 challenges and 18 zip lines to enjoy. Themed nights are on Thursdays through Sundays.
Jack-o'-lantern World
Taking place at Seymour Smith Park in Lavista Nebraska this family-friendly event is a display of thousands of jack-o'-lanterns carved by award-winning artists. Spectate the amazing luminaries along a three-quarter mile walk and come out and see Nebraska's largest 1000+ pound jack-o'-lantern. Enjoy the jack-o'-lanterns from September 29 through October 29 on Thursday through Sunday evenings.
Trunk or treat at Wildlife Safari Park in Ashland
Take a hayride around Pelican wetlands and Crane meadows and create treats for the animals to enjoy. Enjoy a couple of games and then enjoy dinner and toasting marshmallows. There will be six different opportunities to enjoy this fun event at the Safari Park. Check out the website for information on dates and times and to register.
Pumpkin Patches and Orchards
There are several great farms all around the Nebraska area there are almost too many to count. You could enjoy a different one every weekend or more than one in a day. The farms around Omaha offer several different opportunities to enjoy fall activities from pumpkin patches, two corn mazes, two apple picking, two hayrides, and much more. Omaha has plenty of spooky but not so scary events for the entire family to enjoy together and there are some scarier events for older crowds to enjoy as well.
