Alex James Heyen is Broker/Owner of Flatwater Realty LLC and Branch Manager at Canopy Mortgage’s Omaha branch (personal NMLS 2075179; branch NMLS 2905646). He also founded The Dual Advantage, a coaching community for dual-licensed real estate and mortgage professionals. Alex was born and raised in Giltner, Nebraska, a small farming community, and grew up working on his family’s farm. Rural Nebraska taught him hard work, humility and community. After high school he attended the University of Nebraska–Lincoln and became a lifelong Huskers fan, loyal through every high and low as the team works to recapture the glory of the 1990s.
Alex has built his reputation in both real estate and lending. Flatwater Realty is a full-service Nebraska brokerage, and at Canopy Mortgage he leads the Omaha branch. Because he works in both sales and lending, he can guide clients from financing to closing with clarity, confidence and a personal approach. Through The Dual Advantage, he helps other agents build careers that combine real estate and lending.
Alex has stayed involved in his community. He was president of the South Shore Heights HOA from 2013 to 2017, where he was recognized for bringing the neighborhood together with common-sense ideas and fiscal responsibility. He is vice president of the Fountainebleau HOA in Panama City Beach, Florida.
A devoted husband and father of three, Alex keeps his life rooted in what he learned growing up on the farm: hard work, integrity and a deep appreciation for the communities he calls home.
